Initial Overview:

THEE incest episode. What would you do if your brother is going to die? IDK if I can be "analytical" about this one I just look at it through incest colored glasses...

Notes:

Sam has a vision of Dean killing an innocent (or posessed) man -- "thought there was something inside him." Sam thinks Dean will or could hurt an innocent.

Sam: we're looking for a young man

Dean connects with guy over military attitudes (John's history in the Marine Corps)

Croatoan virus-- become violent, near rabid, but retain level of sanity to lie, strategize, & manipulate

First infected-- family ties up and beats mother, then converts her via blood ingestion & contamination. A father, a mother, & two sons, one of whom is away on a fishing trip

Sam walks in with mother (infected) while Dean carries the body of the Father. Sam gets called weak by dean for not firing on the kid, says he wasn't human any longer & so Sam shouldn't feel bad about killing him

Dean discovers they're trapped, gay joke, Picks up military man on the way back.

Mother turns and attacks doctor. Sam figures out the virus.

Military man says they kill the mother. Sam & Dean at least pretend to ask about a cure before going in to shoot her. Military man can't do it as mother begs for her life -- Dean takes over & shoots her three times.

They can't escape, which military man points out -- SamDean want to leave. Before they arrive at a descision the Son shows up with a wound. His mother and father are here, but dead. Dean is gung-ho with killing and goes fater the son as Sam knew he would. He's stuck? (??) Sam compares Dean to one of the monsters.

When he's about to kill the son he breifly places the son's life in the doctor's hands. Hesitates, them doesn't kill him thanks to sam's doubt (& likely [illegible] to Sam) Sam asks him why in the moment-- dean says they need more alcohol.

Sam is attacked by the nurse and infected. Says she's been "waiting for this chance the whole time."

Dean loses his composure. Military man and Son want Sam dead, says "you said it yourself, he won't be your brother much longer!" Room says he's a hypocrite. Sam offers to kill himself, Dean says no, not unless I die with you. Dean does not exist without Sam! He is okay with them killing each other. Sam begs him to save himself, to let Sam die. Dean refuses. He wants to kill himself so fucking bad.

Onces Sam is "infected" all the demons leave, gone like they were never there.Sam doesn't get infected-- there are no answers to be found.

Son kills Military Man to report to Azazel. Posessed, not infected.

The Lake

• Sam NEEDS to know Dean. Dean wants a break, freedom from the burden of John's last order, which he finally exposes: "Save Sam, becuase if [you] fail, you'll have to kill him."

Sam is betrayed by Dean and John both-- that it has so altered Dean's perception towards him and that Dean was again too "weak" to go against John even in death. Dean wants to hide away with Sam where he can keep him exactly how he likes him. Orders Sam to stay low with him, begs him. Is deeply afraid through entire encounter of losing Sam.
