Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things

Back

Initial Overview:

Girl who gets in a car accident is brought back to likfe as a vengeful zombie by her incel best friend, he desiring her as essentially a sex slave.

Notes:

Sam visits Mary's grave. Dean doesn't come because he thinks it's childish and stupid but doesn't take the out Sam offers him. → cannot connect with anyone emotionally but Sam. Would rather be with Sam than anywhere else-- 1 part paranoia 2 parts incest.

At Mary's grave Sam leaves John's dog tags. Dean stares at headstone reading "beloved father." Stumbles upon a hunt-- dead plant life. Sam is skeptical, thinks Dean s reaching to avoid the topic of their parents.

Dean is very agressive in pursuit of information from Angela's father. Very bothered by the implications of non-consensual resurrection (drives you mad? makes you angry?). Falsely accuses the dad of resurrecting Angela, is upset when it isn't true.

Sam offers himself up as a target for Dean's anger. Instead Dean turns to alcohol. Upset Sam is projecting/doubting him?

Angela kills her cheating boyfriend. Dean steals her diary because he's a pervert ♥

Incel guy gives up part of the ghost.

Sam doesn't want to dig up a fresh body (this is to remind the viewer that bodies usually go in coffins) (hi transcriber john here. what the fuck does that mean). Luckily for him the coffin is empty-- she's in incel guy's murder basement

Dean is again disgusted by the resurrection. He does not think he deserves to live. Sam gets close to clocking this out loud, but focuses on wanting to be let in instead-- "you're on edge, you're erratic, ecvept for when you're hunting, cause then you're downright scary!"

→In Dean's mind he is no longer 100% human. Resurrection left the pit in his stomach, John's death only made it worse and illuminated it, and now, fully othered, it is held close to the chest. This serves to highlight Dean's hypocrisy regarding Sam later in the season & shows us exactly why he is so afreaid of Sam's inevitable change. Dean has beeen conscripted against his will, Sam long deserted and begging to be let back in. (transcriber john. this doesnt make any fucking sense but im posting it in case i figure it out later)

Sam says they need to compartmentalize all of that until the zombie is dead. Sam is also afraid of losing Dean to his "darker impulses"

Zombie escapes & kills boyfriend for selfish revenge, gaslights Incel Kid about it. He comments that she seems different. That he resurrected her was proof of his devotion!

Dean compares zombie's diary to John's.

Keeps cracking mildly insensitive jokes about zombie girl, enough that Sam comments on it. Is oddly in tune with the social circle bordering on empathetic.

Zombie girl tries to kill traitorous roommate.

SamDean confront incel boy. Dean pins respoonsiblity of boyfriend's death on him. Incel boy hides zombie from them (they know she's there). Angela justifies her murders to Incel boy by saying that they hurt her, comparing emotional wounds to bodily harm. She realizes Incel boy doesn't believe her and so snaps his neck in the parking lot when he tries to run away.

When Sam sees her in the cemetery, she makes an appeal to the fact that she still appears human, that she didn't ask to be brought back. gives Sam pause.

Deam says what's dead should stay dead. Case really bothered him, is (in part) honest with Sam. Blames himself for John's death, suspects the trade for his life. Another case of John's opaqueness being useless and harmful. Dean names resurrection, specifically his, as unnatural.

"What could you possibly say to make that alright?"
