Salvation
Initial Overview:
Salvation was created for sinners.
Notes:
Old guard hunter killed by Meg. Divide the family by killing the father, only brings the brothers closer.
John's full transparency. Abandons family for SRQ. Sam thinks John is implying or believes that Mary and Jess's deaths are his fault -- Sam is different.
JW 2:27 -- pure religion and undefiled before god & the father is this: to visit the fatherless & widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
- I mean come the fuck on. COME ON!!!! FUCK OFF ERIC. I KNOW THAT YOU'RE MAD GOD WON'T ANSWER YOUR PRAYERS. I KNOW YOU'RE MAD YOUR DAD NEVER LISTENED TO YOU. CAN WE BE SO FUCKING FOR REAL!!!
John cares that Pastor Jim dies-- it means it's on their trail, and any subsequent deaths are their fault.
Dean flirts with a girl for info, Sam goes to the library and has a vision. John is really freaked out by the concept at Sam having powers, gets upset that they didn't tell him when it first started, but they make the point that Dean was literally fucking on his deathbed and John didn't pick up the phone. So.
Sam thinks about warning woman from his visions but doesn't know how. How nice of the demon to show him the exact place and time he'd show up.
Meg killing peole John cares about because he has the cult. Unit is too tightly knit to be affected. Distance is protection but also salvation?
John's plane is to fake Meg out/sacrifice himself so that the boys can fulfil his SRQ.
- I want Sam to go to school.
- I want Dean to have a home.HOW FUCKED UP IS THAT. HOW ABSOLUTELY FUCKED IS IT THAT THAT IS WHAT DEAN WANTS. Hey John? You made this guy like this. The reason he doesn't have a home is because of YOU and your fucking SUICIDE MISSION, and YOU made his definition of home SAM. THAT'S IT. There is NO SUCH THING as a home for Dean because YOU have perverted his understanding of it so fucking severely he'll kill himself if he has to participate in the nuclear family. COME ON.
- I want Mary to be alive.
- I just want this to be over.
JOHN... GO FUCK YOURSELF. GO FUCKING SCREW YOURSELF. SHOVE THAT RHETORIC UP YOUR ASS. YOU CAN'T FUCKING BEAR RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL THAT SO YOU BLAME IT ON THE DEMON. YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKER. GOD. I HATE HIM.
Dean begs John not to leave him. John leaves them to go finish the fight he started. I fucking hate Gen Xers. "I'll see you later." Sam, like John, is willing to die for the fight.
John's fakeout happens in an abandoned factory while the boys fight in the suburbs. Sam suggests telling the truth again.
- Sam wishes John was with them. Dean wishes he was with John.
Sam recognizes their connections in light of what he thinks is about to happen-- suicidal revenge. Dean orders him not to kill himself in pursuit of the demon-- "you understand me?"
John's fakeout doesn't work for more than 2 seconds.
Sam saves mother, Dean knocks out father and saves child. Sam tries to run back in the house.
- "It's suicide!" "I don't care!" "I do!"
Dean will not let Sam sacrifice himself. Revenge, John & now Sam's revenge, will leave him meaningless and alone. Sam and John are all he has. Dean will, must preserve the family, because without the family, he doesn't exist.
Sam is now worth disobeying God for.
The rules Do Not Apply to the unit of Brothers. Sibling relationship becomes elevated above faith, above the world, above God. God has dictated they must save each other at any cost, but did not realize that included saving each other from Him. John does not recognize his creation.
