The Benders

Back

Initial Overview:

Classism. Incestuous family kidnaps + hunts + kills random people for shits & giggles. Mistaken for monsters initially-- nothing's crazier than people.

Notes:

Sam gets kidnapped and Dean freaks out a little (a lot). Described himself as a black sheep-- more hints that Sam is John's golden child. Sam is his responsibility and he is "bringing him back" no matter the cost. Sounds eerily rehearsed.

Sam wakes up trapped with another guy. Tries his damnedest to escape. Family treats humans like animals-- there's no better prey than human.

Dean makes cop lady (woman of the episode) take him with her because they both have missing brothers. Responsibility lies on Dean whenever Sam goes missing -- vague undertone that Sam isn't as responsible for his actions as Dean is. And John wonders why they're in love with each other. Really great picture of Sam Dean carries around. I wonder if he has multiple, or if they have to sit down and take pictures because they go missing so often...

Dean looks at Sam like he could eat him. "Kiddo."

Youngest daughter is weaponized by the family as bait & switch. nobody will hurt a little girl...

"You ever killed before? I've hunted all my life. Like my father, and his father before him. It's kind of like a tradition, passed down from father to son. You brought this down on my family."

Dean volunteers Sam to be hunted because he thinks Sam will be able to escape. Spares maybe two seconds of thought for cop lady. Hears gunshots, thinks the worst. "If you hurt my brother, I swear..." He is trapped with no way of knowing what's happening, only trusting Sam. See 2.03 for more.

Cop lady kills Father. It does not help.
